Art Theory, Concept and related critical areas in perception, interpretation, memory and emotion from turning on the heart receiver of the deaf which the writer has searched, data collected as the guideline for research could be categorized as follow;

Symbolic interaction theory is the theory of the relation of individualization in society by using symbol. The priority is given to the perception and reaction behaviour. This concept believes that not only stimulation which creates human to response as experimental animals but also human have been trained to create a process of thinking and psychology to assist in understanding meaning of things very well. As George Herbert Mead, the major philosophy of symbolic interaction theory said that learning social rules of individual must be depended on observation, imitation and interaction or doing will allow us to realize our own role, including social rules. Moreover, to interact properly and automatically are significant.

In the process of interaction along the Art Camp, we have been trying to lead them to perceive various skills, things and knowledge from symbol which is meaningful to us rather than the things we have perceived. Symbol means the things human being intend to use to represent something and symbol represents the things which society constructs that symbol could represent such things. However, it is unnecessary for symbol or they represent symbol must be always related. The symbol portraits things which we nominate its refers, but when the tutors always find that symbol and things its represent. Therefore it could not be separated from each other.

Hoibel concluded the major aspect of symbol as “No matter how symbol is in any kinds of forms, it must be existed, heard, felt and be able to smell”. This can be described that symbol is a great tool to clarify an abstract. Besides, Judith A.Howard, Joelyn Hollander, 1977 mentioned about symbol as “The meaning of materials, individuality and behaviour which are abstract, different and changeable at all time. People will react to symbol or meaning of things they perceive but not to the things happened when they have reaction.”

In communication during the art camp, there is nobody who are able to deny the reaction through symbol because the communication behaviour creates a symbolic interaction which requires systematic meaning among related groups whereas the meaning getting from the communication via symbolic interaction will be deeper than information transfer due to the complicated issues, interdependence, meaningful and relationship among communication is generating. To illustration this more is communication in this aspect is the occurance of relationship among people in the society which require regulation, agreement, culture or related code of the society.

Social interaction is the thing could construct an individual basic data understanding which is mentally or self-reliance, self-understanding and social knowledge. These 3 main conditions are the major factors to transcend us to realize social rules and learning to do as the established regulation. Learning must derive from direct experiences which are observation, imitation and interaction directly with environment. Role of the society will allow us to know how we are, how the other people look at us as well as being the behavioural setting, social action and tendency in our social interaction. It could be said that “self” is originating from the establishing of the interaction with environment of which driving us to have a symbolic interaction with the society onward.

The communication in every society uses symbol as the medium of interaction. Individual culture uses his owns symbol and giving different meaning, for example one thing could have many symbols and many meanings in difference culture. The fundamental of art expressing symbol which all members in the society uses as the standard of common meaning is “language”. Hollander said that language is the thing creates human visible, existing differently to animal. Language generated from the communication with the others and it consists of meaning which is hidden as symbolized meaning with its duty to emphasize, also be the medium of reaction.

Although, most of people have language as the symbol of communication for meaning, but in an individual society has differently ways of using language. Whereas meaning or code of that language is the common agreement of such society.

Tutors from the Decorative Arts’s Art Camp no.II have brought the symbolic interaction theory to enhance their skill as a frame to explain aspect of the deaf communication and heart hearing. From this theory, we must use symbols to communicate and react. This is because it is a fundamental for the majority of people in society, expressing an interaction, especially “art language”. Therefore the deaf is just one group of the people in this culture, using for communication to the others. The art language and communication through abstract materials, domestic object which contain a context of Thai Buddhist culture as the significant symbol. The artistic medium which we have attempted to create to enhance language for art language have been revealed an essence of self-understanding. Their perception is different, comparing with the normal people. In deepen details, a failure sensible nerves creates another great potential of human surviving. Consequently, the normal people can judge them with no social standard. Sometimes, the deaf could not understand symbolic language which we have prepared but the interpretation to clearly clarify messages are derived by memorizing. Furthermore, creating a various alternative channel of artistic medium to them in order to expand their imagination is the most important. This is a main vehicle to transcend ways in receiving messages and use it to develop their philosophy of living, especially managing a fundamental of emotion as the interpretation of art expression from non-verbal communication, and gesture need to be combined as well.

Above all, the deaf have the right to be a part of a society. The interpretation of art expression from Non-Verbal communication during the art camp means the communication by gesture and expression. It is the symbol of meaning communication. Non-verbal communication mainly is more important than verbal communication because of its expression. It is wider and able to communicate the real meaning of transmitter more, and the receiver himself can interpret and understand the information clearer. Jame C. Mcrosky, 1997 said that non-verbal communication will happen when there is the close communication between more than two persons. Although in some situation, it may not be possible to observe the expression, for instance, the communication through telephone. The interpretation of art expression from Non-verbal communication still exists in communication not only tone, information, loudness which will be the stimulus of that communication of meaning.

The interpretation of art expression from Non-verbal language is not only creating normal people to be better understanding, but it is important to assist the deaf to perceive understandingly when received messages. Consequently, tutors have brought a non-verbal language theory to explain the manner of the deaf’s communication, both as the messenger and the receiver, especially in the form of visualization. This is necessary for the deaf because when they could not hear the voice, they need to use the other meaning of receiving messages instead. This is a clear indicator that the deaf surely have the social communication, only they would choose the different meaning from the normal. Furthermore, if we take the art channel as qualifications of non-verbal language which could convey the meaningful and original meaning of messages, the deaf could perceive and understand that message which is not only assist in receiving message from the visualization but also include general communication and deepen heart in daily life.
